{Release Day Blitz} LITTLE LIES by H. Hunting

"H. Hunting delivers what must be the most beautifully written, and certainly emotional New Adult books of the year.”
- LJ Shen, USA Today bestselling author

From New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting writing as H. Hunting, comes a beautifully written and emotional new adult romance, Little Lies, available now!

I don’t want you.
You mean nothing to me.
I never loved you.
I turned my words into swords.
And I cut her down.
Shoved the blade in and watched her fall.
I said I’d never hurt her, and I did.
Years later, I’m faced with all the little lies, the untruths, the false realities, the damage I inflicted, when all I wanted was to indulge my obsession.
Lavender Waters is the princess in the tower. Even her name is the thing fairy tales are made of.
I used to be the one who saved her.
Over and over again.
But I don’t want to save her anymore.
I just want to pretend the lies are still the truth.

Book Review: Bad Boy Brody by Tijan

Bad Boy Brody by Tijan
Blurb:
One punch took him from Hollywood’s Golden Boy to Bad Boy Brody.

The media didn’t care he was grieving his brother’s death. They descended on him, but to change his reputation, his manager got him a deal.

Act in an indie film, one that already had Oscar buzz, and he’d get the movie roles he needed to secure his future.

He took the deal.

Yet he wasn’t prepared for the real-life people behind the script. He wasn’t prepared for the murder the movie was based on. And he really wasn’t prepared for her, the biggest secret of all.

She was wild. She was beautiful. She defied gravity.

But was she the leading role that would tame him?

My Review:
Brody Asher went from Hollywood Heartthrob to Hollywood Bad Boy in the seven months since he listened to his brother die in a car accident on his way to Brody’s latest movie premiere. He’s been on a downward spiral of drinking too much, sleeping around, and starting fights.

To clean up his act, his latest movie is set in the Montana wilderness; a movie that’s already gaining Oscar buzz so he can’t screw it up. What he never expected was falling in love. On the drive up to the Kellerman mansion, where the woman the movie is centered on lived and where the movie will be filmed, a herd of wild mustangs races across the road in front of the car and for a split second he locks eyes with a girl riding on the back of one of the mustangs. But was she really? Or another ghost he’s seeing.

Morgan is wild and untamed. She’s preferred to among the wild mustangs ever since her mother was murdered. A part of her humanity died that day and she doesn’t know how to be around people anymore so she stays away, living with the herd that took her in like a second family. But when she sees the star actor playing her stepfather in the movie they’re making about her late mother everything begins to change. She is curious about him and the more time she spends with Brody the more she can’t stay away. But could she leave behind her life in the wilderness with the herd?

This is the second book I’ve read by Tijan and I loved it just as much, if not more than the first. The blurb was what initially drew me into the story - I’m drawn to characters like Brody but the plot was well written, the characters well developed, and the story kept me engaged.

I liked Morgan as a character, her connection with the herd and her feelings about her past seemed well researched and plotted and at times I forgot that she’d had an education because she’d been with the horses so long. Matthew was a majorly creepy character and Peter was a true villain but fit well with the storyline.

Overall, I liked everything about this book. Now having read more than one book by this author I can really say this is an author you need to check out! This book gave me all the feels and made me want to keep reading to see how things would play out.

Book Review: The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia

The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia
Blurb:
Seventeen-year-old Frankie Devereux would do anything to forget the past. Haunted by the memory of her boyfriend’s death, she lives her life by one dangerous rule: nothing matters. At least, that’s what Frankie tells herself after a reckless mistake forces her to leave her privileged life in the Heights to move in with her dad―an undercover cop. She transfers to public school in the Downs, where fistfights in the halls don’t faze anyone and illegal street racing is more popular than football.

Marco Leone is the fastest street racer in the Downs. Tough, sexy, and hypnotic, he makes it impossible for Frankie to ignore him…and how he makes her feel. But the risks Marco takes for his family could have devastating consequences for them both. When Frankie discovers his secret, she has to make a choice. Will she let the pain of the past determine her future? Or will she risk what little she has left to follow her heart?

My Review:
After seventeen-year-old Frankie Devereux's boyfriend Noah is beaten to death outside a club, Frankie's life spirals out of control. Earning a DUI after getting wasted at Noah's lacrosse coach's memorial for Noah, Frankie's socialite mother and stepfather and her undercover cop father decide it is for the best if Frankie goes to live with her father in the Downs.

The Downs are a completely different world than the upscale neighborhood Frankie grew up in but she plans to stay under the radar - go to school then her community service and come home. She doesn't want to let anyone in, not even her best friends Lex and Abel. All she wants is to fill in the gaps in her memory and remember who killed Noah.

On Frankie's first day at her new public high school, she spies sexy, confident Marco. Their chemistry is instantaneous and soon Frankie is wrapped up in Marco's world and making a new friend in Cruz, a tough street racer who Frankie bonds with. But not everything in Marco's life is pleasant - and Marco's dangerous hidden life may destroy the little bit of stability Frankie is gaining in her life and put her in the crosshairs of a psychotic killer.

Will Frankie and Marco's love be enough to overcome it all? Do a cop's daughter and a bad boy really have any chance at a future?

I really liked The Lovely Reckless, it's sexy and addicting. It's a really fast-paced, light, easy read and I devoured the whole book in about 24 hours.

Marco is a swoon-worthy book boyfriend that readers will love and Frankie's journey from a broken girl to a girl getting a handle on who she is and what she wants is truly beautiful. The storyline is thrilling and packed with enough obstacles and drama for Marco and Frankie that a reader will want to keep reading and the secondary characters compliment the main characters well.

A few minor things irked me about The Lovely Reckless, just a couple grammatical issues that an editor should have caught and a question about a character - who is Ava? She pops up toward the end as Cruz's sister but the only one of Cruz's sisters named toward the beginning of the book is Teresa. Also, I'm a little unconvinced that after so short a time it was really "love" between Marco and Frankie. To me, it felt more like lust until the ending.

Overall, I did really like the book; it reminded me of a cross between Katie McGarry's Crash Into You and Simone Elkeles's Perfect Chemistry.
