Bookish (And Not So Bookish) Thoughts - 20 December 2018

Bookish (And Not So Bookish) Thoughts is a Weekly Meme hosted by Christine @ Bookishly  Boisterous.

Happy Thursday Bookdragons! Christmas is almost here and it's setting up to be a long weekend so.. double plus?

1. Last month I was actually excited for Christmas, now I just wish we'd get past it. I know part of it is my depression rearing its ugly head but I'm over the whole thing - the cooking, the grocery shopping for the cooking, the hassle of it all. I don't much like Christmas movies, I hate Christmas music... can we fast-forward to New Year's Eve???

2. My grandmother and I are celebrating Jolabokaflod for the first time this year and I'm eager to exchange books and spend the night sipping hot chocolate and reading. Especially since I'm in an awful slump again.

3. I'm staying at my Grandmother's through Christmas and I'd really like to know who in their right mind thinks futons are comfortable to sleep on. There's this annoying metal rod up the underside of the futon which is a pain (literally) to sleep on.

4. I got approved for the Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan Blog Tour which means I have an eARC to download from Netgalley. Yesssssss!

5. Last weekend I submitted my order for the Apollycon Virtual Signing. I thought I did pretty good and only ordered 6 books. Unfortunately, there are a bunch more I want to order with my next paycheck 🤣

6. I've been feeling under the weather this week. It's the Christmas curse, I tell you. Every year I get sick around/on Christmas. It never fails.

7. A friend of mine is on vacation in Arizona and I'm feeling major travel envy. I'm dying to go somewhere for a few days. One of my goals for 2019 is to attend/arrange to attend a book convention.

  1. I hope you feel better soon! I tend to get sick every time I have a break from work - so, every holiday. I guess getting the chance to relax leaves me defenseless?

    1. Thanks! I think sometimes the holidays are so hectic and people are running around so much, not really taking good care of themselves and its the perfect environment to catch something, at least that's the way it is for me. I'm always on the go with very little down time.

  2. Oh, no, futons are the worst, aren't they? I remember having one in a guest room, and my eldest son slept on it for a few months. He never mentioned the discomfort...LOL. But I have slept on one a time or two.

Christmas became calmer and merrier for me when I simplified. I no longer rush around; I don't do any cooking; and I arrive at my grown kids' homes bearing bottles of alcohol and gift cards. Easy, right?

I guess when I was younger, I felt the pressure to perform.

Hang in there, and feel better! Here are

    1. I've slept on roll-away beds that are more comfortable than this futon! LOL! Is your son the type who could sleep through anything perhaps?

Yes, that sounds wonderful. It's mainly me and my grandmother but my mom and sister are joining us for dinner - in my grandmother's tiny apartment (and even tinier kitchen!) My mom is being Scrooge this year.. there aren't even any decorations up at our house.

Thanks for visiting! Have a great weekend and holiday!
