It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - 4 May 2020

#IMWAYR is a weekly meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date.

What I Read Last Week:
Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I finally finished this one. I read it both in audiobook and physical edition like I did the first time. I really am not sure I needed to reread this one because I got really bored. It felt like I'd read it just yesterday and didn't need to read it again so soon. I'm still excited to read Aurora Burning and see what happens next of course.
Favorite characters: Scarlet, Fin, Kal
Least Favorite Character: Cat (still can't stand her)
Original Rating: 4.5 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Don't Go Stealing My Heart by Kelly Siskind
This book is a quick, humorous read of redemption and true love. I love the name of the town Jack lives in and the Elvis festival was a cute touch. Clementine is a character you feel for immediately even as you distrust her “mentor” and question his real motives right from the start. Rating - 4 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Currently Reading
A Werewolf in Riverdale
I started this one over the weekend and it's slower going than I expected. I hope I can get more into it today and tomorrow

Up Next
Dare to Resist by Carly Phillips
It's been a while since I read a Carly Phillips book but I love her books and I'm excited to get into this one for my blog tour stop on the 12th.

What I Read Last Week:
Reborn Yesterday by Tessa Bailey
I finally finished this one. I enjoyed the first half of the book but it may have been the duration of time that I let it sit aside or that I saw the ending coming about halfway through and actually reading it became tedious that I didn't love it as much as I'd hoped I would.
Rating - 3.75 🌟🌟🌟

The Betrothed by Kiera Cass
I was going to start a reread of my favorite book, Maybe This Time by Jennifer Crusie, but I recently got an ARC of The Betrothed in a trade and wanted to flip through and see if it grabbed me before buying the Beacon Book Box special edition Kiera Cass box. I only meant to read a chapter or two last Tuesday and before I knew it it was 1 am and I was already halfway through. It really grabbed me and I can't wait for the conclusion to the duology!
Rating: 4.75 🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐

Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer

Status: Back-burner, will resume after Aurora Rising Read-along

Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I put off listening to the third set of chapters until this past weekend which took me forever but I thankfully can say I'm all caught up and ready for the next set of chapters to start tomorrow.

A Werewolf in Riverdale

I got this book in the mail last week and I can't wait to start reading it. It shouldn't interfere with my Aurora Rising reading I don't think... the genres are so different.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - 30 March 2020

Hey Bookdragons! My reading slowed down last week but I’m still making progress...

What I Read Last Week:
I'm still working my way through this one but I honestly was in no mood for reading last week. Depression hit me hard with news of the 'Safer at Home' order put into place here in Wisconsin last Tuesday.

Currently Reading

When you don't feel like actually reading... pick out a new audiobook. Which was what I did. Libro.fm had this and a few other books on sale so I indulged and supported my favorite indie bookstore at the same time.

This one is still next on my TBR and I'll get to it just as soon as I finish Hideaway.

I'm also going to join in on the Aurora Rising read-along leading up to the release of Aurora Burning. I loved AR in audio and since physical books are taking me forever to get through I'll be re-listening to it along with my friends.

Here are details on the read-along hosted by the authors, Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff:

I Love Characters... A Most Unusual Character

I 💚 Characters is a weekly meme created by Dani @ Perspective of a Writer, to show off our favorite characters. Be sure to check out her blog for more info! This week’s topic is ...

A Most Unusual Character
Am I the only one who feels like they don't fit in? This week's theme is all about the characters that are zany, quirky, and definitely don't fit the mold. So I choose...

Zila Madran - Aurora Legion Squad 312's Brain
Described as "A sociopath scientist with a fondness for shooting her bunkmates" in the blurb, Zila is quiet, aloof, scary smart, and seemingly disinterested in the happenings around her. Her head in the clouds persona usually gives way to spot on theories... when she's not blasting one of her squadmates with her disrupter (her favorite accessory).

We don't get to see a lot of chapters in her perspective in Aurora Rising and those that we do see are fairly short but I get the feeling that she's seen some awful things, secretly has a big heart that she chooses to keep well guarded, and will become a shining star in this trilogy.

Start reading about her in...
