Why I'm Crushing:

Slate Allen is portrayed as the playboy manwhore who's only after a good time. But in reality he's a caring soul who reads to children in the sick ward of the hospital, reads to people in comas, cares about the people in his life, and is completely destroyed by his uncle's illness. I love the way he watches over Vale in this book and even when the story flips on its' head I love his chemistry with Vale.

Why I'm Crushing:

Ryan is an amazing character. He wakes up to an unexpected guest - a girl he doesn't even really know - sleeping in his bed and instead of freaking out or telling her to get out he lets her stay, he becomes her constant, her anchor as she deals with her twin's suicide. I don't know of many eighteen-year-old guys like that, do you? I love how protective Ryan becomes of Mackenzie, maybe because he can understand a little how she is feeling or maybe just because he's a caring guy and he genuinely wants what is best for Mackenzie. Either way, not only is Ryan Jensen this week's MCM Book Boyfriend, he's earned an unwavering spot on my top favorite book boyfriends of all time.

Mal is a sexy, wild, goofball who may be slightly insane but that's why we love him right? I love the insane things he says and does - from moving himself into Anne's apartment the day after the met to climbing into Anne's bathtub fully dressed and breaking her bed in another scene but I also like seeing the more sensitive side of him during his mother's illness. Mal is my kind of guy. Honey, you can move yourself into my apartment and call me Pumpkin anytime! 😉

Why I'm Crushing:

The Goblin King is everything I love: broken yet sarcastic, mischievous, and oh-so-sexy. I loved him in Wintersong but I loved him even more in Shadowsong where we get a glimpse into his bleak beginnings and how he became The Goblin King. I love how he loved Liesl so much he was willing to pay the consequences just so she could live and while others have compared Wintersong to Labyrinth (which I have never seen and don't plan to) I saw The Goblin King more as Hades and Liesl as Persephone in a way. If you loved The Goblin King in Wintersong you're going to adore him in Shadowsong!

Why I'm Crushing:
I was crushing on Rylen alongside Amber all the way back in book one, where as my crush on Tater grew throughout the books. I watched him go from just Amber's brother to a guy struggling to cope with the horrible things he'd seen yet still being strong and resilient throughout it all, to a man trying to fight the feelings he has for his sister's best friend - especially in the face of a terrible situation. Meanwhile, Rylen I loved as the type of male character that's oblivious to the fact that the girl he likes has feelings for him too, to a man that's grieving yet can't deny the attraction between himself and Amber, to a true hero to swoon over. Both these characters are fantastic - but if I'm completely honest I swooned a little for most of the guys in the Unknown Trilogy: Texas Harry, New York Josh, Devon, Matt, even Sean and Senator Navis.

Book 3 of the Unknown Trilogy, UNDONE comes out December 5th!

Why I'm Crushing:

Rain doesn't think very highly of himself because of the way his mother treated him but he's loyal and protective and one of the most realistic male leads I've read in a long time. He's not exactly your mushing, sprouting sonnets male lead you see over and over, he's attracted to Freddie both emotionally and physically which is refreshing. Sometimes male leads are made out to be like perfect Ken dolls that always say and do the right thing but Rain is raw and tough and that's what I love about him.

Why I'm Crushing:

Nikolai is charming, confident, and humorous, yet he makes a great leader. True, Alina never quite gives into his charm and claims she doesn't feel anything for him when he kisses her in Ruin and Rising, but I think he would make a great love interest for some character and I really hope he gets partnered up with someone in King of Scars. I'm eager to see how what the Darkling did to him has affected his personality and the way he sees himself in his own book. Will the affable character become a little more brooding and self-reflective? I could definitely see that.
