Current Episode: Season 10 Episode 17 - The Dying Game

I'm getting to the point where there are more episodes I don't like than I do like in this show, but once I get to the end I can go back and start from the beginning... or I could make that list I've been wanting to of my favorite episodes and just watch those.   

Current Episode: Season 2, Episode 11 - There's Something About Mira

I'm alternating between watching this and a few other shows before bed at night when I'm not reading or listening to an audiobook.

Current Episode - Season 1 Complete

 My mom and I started watching the first season Sunday, finished it Monday and I'm hooked! It's witty, and dark and overall addictive to watch. I think season 2 will be a whole new cast and if it's as good as season 1 I'm excited. It kept me guessing what was to come.

Current Episode - Season 62, Episode 109 

I took a break from watching Corrie after Seb got killed off on May 7th. I just needed a break. But Monday I got caught up and out of all of it, it was hardest watching Nina. She's still my favorite character but watching Abi break into her and blame her that Seb died because of how Nina looks just broke my heart. I know Abi is grieving but it was still uncalled for. 

Just Added to My Watchlist / Just Gave it A Try

Premiering May 28, 2021!

This is based on a book by Lauren Oliver, and while I have not read this one yet it's been on my TBR. If it holds all the twists of Broken Things then I think I'll really enjoy the show!

We've been watching SYTTD: Atlanta more often and I think we're nearing the end of season 2. 

New Obsessions & Recent Binges

I literally started watching this docuseries the same night I posted last week's "What I'm Binge-Watching" and watched the whole thing in one night. In comparison with both the Ghost Adventures and ID Channel episodes and miniseries I thought Crime Scene was the best of the three shows (and not just because Ron Howard produced it). It seems to give viewers the whole, most factual picture where we finally hear that Elisa Lam had a history of stopping her medication, that she had psychotic episodes before including thinking people were after her and seeing/hearing things that weren't there, and that she had been institutionalized before. All of the behavior described and on the elevator footage is classic signs of someone with bipolar going off their medication. As for the web sleuths and their crazy theories.. everything from the paranormal to ruining a death metal musician's career just because he stayed at that same dumpy hotel a year prior? It went too far. Way too far. It's a perfect example of judging someone just because they're different from you. But I will say that I didn't like the former general manager of the Cecil that was interviewed. It was like the whole thing - the disappearance, discovery, and interview were a big joke to her. At times during the interview she was almost joking about what had happened in the past at the hotel or trivializing the clientele of the hotel & how often the police were called in a “so what” manner while in others it was like it was all about her. She should have taken it more seriously, someone did die, no matter the circumstances. Hell, lots of people died there and she was making it sound like an awesome place to work. 

My mom and I binged this over the weekend and I loved the first season, but the second and third seasons sucked in my opinion. 

I watched this all the way through on Monday. Well, sort of. I was watching it but I was also reading and doing stuff on my phone so it was more background noise than watching. As a horror show it was okay but the special effects and ghosts were so fake at times it was laughable... in the last episode you could almost see the "ghost" on a wheeled track charging toward one of the cult people. The acting was okay, the episodes short, and this is easily watchable in a few hours. 

Just Added to My Watchlist

This isn't really new to my watchlist but I just started watching it on Tuesday. I'm not really sure yet if I like it or not, I think I'll have to take it like books I'm considering DNF'ing (did not finish-ing). The acting isn't bad, but there was a scene with the main character and a bunch of wolves and the wolves were so oversized and obviously fake that it put me off. I wanted to watch this because it has Gustaf Skarsgård (who played Floki on Vikings) in it as Merlin but I'm not sure even he can help me stay interested.

My Review:

Stalking Jack the Ripper fictionally solves a mystery that has remained unsolved for 129 years. 

Our heroine, Audrey Rose Wadsworth, is a peculiar girl for her era of London society. She'd much rather study forensic science and help her uncle perform autopsies than sit down for afternoon tea with other young ladies of society, much to the dismay of her father. 

And what a time to be studying forensic science it will be, when a woman is found brutally slain. Neither Audrey Rose, nor her uncle or his insufferable assistant, Thomas Cresswell could have predicted this will be only the first in a series of gruesome murders that will become infamous and be sensationalized across the morning headlines. 

Who is Jack the Ripper? As their lives are turned upside down and startling secrets are revealed in Audrey Rose's family she must join together with Thomas to stop a mad killer. What is the killer's motivation? Will they find out before the killer sets his sights on Audrey Rose? Or will the case remain unsolved?

Audrey Rose is a fantastic heroine! She chose to step away from society's expectations of that era to pursue her passion, showing that women can be feminine and fearless, even in Victorian England. Thomas's quick wit and deduction skills are awesome and his flirtiness with Audrey Rose is entertaining. I love how she fights her feelings for him in this book. They really paired well together.

The author really did her research both into the case and the forensic practices of the era and I thought the creative liberties she took fit in well with the story, making them feel authentic to the amazing world building and the true history. 

This is a wonderful debut novel and I can't wait to read more by this author. What adventures now await Audrey Rose and Thomas at their new school in Romania? I can't wait to find out!
